Our Story

Michael & Viktoria

As fate would have it, our paths crossed at a personalised art organisation. Instantly drawn to each other's passion and talent, we struck up a conversation and realised we had so much in common. Our love and dreams for creating beautiful pieces of art, and our shared vision for a business that celebrated fine art. From that moment on, we became not only colleagues but fast friends, and together, we embarked on the journey of turning our artistic dreams into reality.

We are very excited to work through this journey and we hope You will follow us through as fellow art-lovers. This is just the beginning of our magical story and there’s a long way ahead of us with highs and lows, but we both look forward to it with an eager heart to learn and create.

The Origins of the name Alma

The exact origin of the name Alma is debated (cf. Hanks/Hodges 1990:'of uncertain origin'), but it is most likely derived (according to some sources), in the female form,[6] from the Latin word almus, which means "kind", "fostering", or "nourishing".[1] Drosdowski (1974) differentiates between two different names: one derived from Spanish, the other derived from Germanic names with the element 'Amal'. It has been most familiarised by its use in the term alma mater,[3] which means "fostering mother",[7] or "nourishing mother",[6] and in modern times is most associated with a collegiate hymn or song, or to encompass the years in which a student earned their degree. Also, the Arabic words for "the water" and "on the water" are el-ma and al-ma, respectively. It may also be of Greek derivation, where the word αλμη means "salt water".[8] In Hebrew, Alma (עלמה) means a young woman, particularly unmarried, and it appears in the Bible in the Old Testament, in the Book of Genesis 24:43.

Besides its versatile meaning, my Personal reason for choosing the name Alma was a recent revelation in my Life where I’ve recognised my connection with the name through my journey following my Yellow Brick Road. My father gifted me this gem and it is now a symbol of the learning curve that I’ve been climbing on this Planet on a constant quest of Finding Beauty and Love.

In Hungarian, this name bears the meaning of the Apple fruit, which as a child I found odd as I hadn’t met anyone with the same name until my late teenage years and I struggled to find my way to connect with it. Since how could it make sense to be named after a fruit, right…? Little did I understand, and feeling already a stranger to my peers, I would prefer to hide it from people to escape any possible inconvenience in explaining it or becoming the subject of jokes.
Over the years, the more I’ve learnt about myself and Life has kept throwing at me eye-opening Beauties, the fog has lifted off my Road that now has become a bridge opening to a magical world beyond my imagination full of unique creatures and their unknown but welcoming lives to show me what’s Life’s got to give.
Love and understanding one another, finding beauty under hidden rocks or sometimes staring straight into its face and letting Life come to you is what Alma means and so much more.
Creating is Love therefore Art is Alma. My Soul, My Love, My Fruit that provides the essence of Life and Knowledge.
